[When the world falters beneath your feet
Know that you are done
A four-letter word has caught you
And you can't survive
No- You won’t make it out alive]
How can something so small be so powerful, overbearing, and completely miserable?
So many meanings behind this tiny four-letter word.
In the blink of an eye you can be swept up in it.
Over time you can fall for it.
This one little thing can take your life away like a virus or a cancer.
I have a disease; I love someone.
There is no cure, sometimes it is merely dormant.
It will flare up at you when you least expect and show you your old scars.
You can't suppress it, you barely ignore it.
This word will not let you sleep in peace, it stalk you in your dreams.
It stares at you in the mirror and watches you from old photographs.
There is no hiding from those letters.
Only regret from chances not taken, or sorrows for those who are gone.
You will bottle up anger as if someday it will help you cope.
But this cancer will eat you alive.
This virus stops your heart.
You will experience the most confusing form of confusion you will know.
It goes straight to your head and stays there, gnawing away at you.
You will feel hurt and give hurt, then hurt from this more then thought possible.
Those letters in a three word sentence last forever.
This illness is unbearable, and yet all you'll ever want.
